"ALYCIDON AT SPEED"
If your old enough to have travelled behind these locos when in regular service you'll never forget the sound and the feel of being pulled along by 100 tons at 100mph!
In my part of the UK the Deltic was the prime loco to haul trains from Liverpool Street to Norwich - a route that was nicknamed "the long shunt" by drivers. Also used as the Manchester to Harwich as the Hook Continental Boat Train.
The subject of the painting is D9009 (55 9009) Alycidon built in 1961 and withdrawn 21 years later. Now owned by the Deltic Preservation Society.
The painting shown here is 16 inches X 12 inches oil painting on canvas stretched on wooden stretcher bars and is ready for framing. A size that is compatible with shop bought frames.
For sale at £95
