"Readying The Mallard "

LNER Class A4 4468

This page showcases my oil painting of the famous "Mallard" locomotive.

Mallard is now one of only six remaining A4 Pacifics, 4-6-2, designed by Nigel Gresley for LNER, built in 1938 and pictured here in garter blue. By 1938 the standard colour for streamlined LNER locomotives was garter blue. On 3rd July 1938 Mallard achieved a record breaking speed of 126 mph at Stoke Bank, between Grantham and Peterborough.

Named supposedly after Nigel Gresley's ducks that he had at his home pond - who knows.....

All the loco artwork shown here has been painted using quality oil paints on 16inch X 12 inch fine weave stretched cotton canvas which has been well primed using gesso primer.

For sale - £120
